Welcome to the Sendai City Medical Association website.
We are an organization of physicians practicing at clinics and hospitals throughout Sendai City. Our membership consists of nearly 2,000 physicians, with an almost equal balance between private practitioners and hospital-based doctors.
The work of physicians extends beyond our daily clinical practice.
We are deeply involved in various social and public service initiatives to support our community during both routine operations and emergencies. These include providing emergency medical care at night and on holidays at the Sendai City Emergency Medical Center and in the emergency departments of various hospitals throughout the city; serving as school physicians at elementary and junior high schools; providing medical support for those living at home or in facilities requiring long-term care; leading epidemic response efforts, from vaccinations to diagnosis and treatment during infectious disease outbreaks; and participating in JMAT (Japan Medical Association Team) activities to support medical care in disaster-stricken areas during major disasters.
Modern healthcare depends on the seamless coordination between many professions. We are proud of our strong partnerships with the Sendai City administration, as well as our colleagues in dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and long-term care. Alongside our many partners, our entire membership is dedicated to working together with a single mission: "To protect the lives and health of the residents of Sendai.
